On June 21, 2007 the How to Save a Life Foundation was founded in honor of Karl Hottenstein. The foundation was set up to help fund treatment for those who would not normally qualify. From June 2007 - October 2011 the How to Save a Life Foundation has gotten over 400 addicted people in the Philadelphia area treatment they would have otherwise not gotten.
Karl Hottenstein sought treatment and was denied.
Six weeks later he died from a drug overdose.
Giving Is Beautiful is about raising funds for those with addictions who want treatment.

The Giving Is Beautiful HOPE necklace features 8mm and 6mm Black Obsidian beads with gun metal Miyuki hex cut glass seed bead accents. The strand is drawn together with a pewter flower bead to create the Twelve Step rosary ring adorned with a pewter heart charm inscribed with the affirmation "HOPE."
