BACK Hi my name is Tracey and I am an alcoholic. I was born and raised in a dysfunctional alcoholic family. From an very early age the message I received about drinking and drugging was that it was ok to do it. My father was very abusive and beat on my mother. Neither of my parents were emotionally available. I began drinking at an early age and didn’t very much care for alcohol. I then smoked weed and fell in love. That was the point were my addiction began. I continued to drink and drug for twenty seven years. In that time I overdosed twice, went to prison five times and died once. In spite of all these things every time I tried to get sober I couldn’t. Even thru the pregnancy of my son I was a slave to my disease. Continuing to use and abuse myself and others to stay high. I lived and breathed to use. Because of this disease I suffer from Hep C but I’m still alright to smile. Cause’ I finally am a proud member of AA which brings me to the best part of my story. Today because of AA I’m a responsible, dependable, mother, daughter, friend and lover. This coming from somebody who could not even get a day. These things happened in my life because I am willing to listen and take suggestions from people who I don’t even really know. And even though that’s the reality of it, what a wonderful life I have today because of AA and the people in it. |
