Sunlight of the Spirit is located in the midtown area of Sacramento and offers high quality books, sacred artifacts, music, cards, and community resources for 12-Step recovery, inspiration, meditation, and spiritual growth. We carry a full line of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) approved literature, anniversary tokens, and other resources to support recovery from addiction.

Our Mission: The mission of Sunlight of the Spirit is to inspire, encourage, and celebrate those seeking to grow in sobriety, in faith, and in spiritual connection with others. We do this by providing materials, resources and services in a sacred space that support lifelong sobriety and promote the universality of all spiritual paths.

Our Vision: Those who seek recovery from addiction or desire to continue to grow spiritually will find the resources and support they need to live in the sunlight of the spirit.

Our Values: We are committed to:
•  Support and encourage those seeking to free themselves from addiction.
•  Reduce the stigma of addiction and promote a society where the dignity of each person is respected.
•  Increase awareness of the connection between recovery and spiritual development.
•  Continue a commitment to the Twelve Step principles and fellowship.
•  Be of service in the Sacramento area.
•  Respond to the needs of those we serve.
•  Reinvesting net profits in local ministries of the Sisters of Social Service and local services for recovering women with dependent children.

About Us: Sunlight of the Spirit is operated by Karen Dotson and Ed Connolly, life partners for 30 years. Karen and Ed are both retired from public service after a combined total of 56 years of service in the education arena, where they worked to assist the poor, incarcerated, and those with special needs in gaining access to the same educational opportunities afforded to others. After meeting in a residential drug treatment facility in 1976, they joined to form a life, marriage and family together. Karen and Ed are committed to continuing to grow, both individually and as partners, in their own recovery and spiritual journey, and delight in sharing the journey with others. They are associates with the Sisters of Social Service and incorporate the principles of balance, works of service, shared faith, hospitality, and ongoing spiritual development into their daily lives.
